ASTM F436 Flat Washers for Long-Term USA Orders
This project involves the long-term manufacture of ASTM F436 Type 1 flat washers for an industrial customer in the United States.
More than 10 years ago, the customer developed and confirmed the complete range of washer sizes in one project. Since then, repeat orders have been placed according to actual demand, with each order including selected sizes and quantities from the approved specification list.
The washers are used in industrial fastening applications where consistent dimensions, controlled hardness, and reliable load distribution are required.

Dimensions and Heat Treatment Requirements
The washers are manufactured according to the customer’s approved ASTM F436 Type 1 drawing. The production range includes multiple nominal sizes, with repeat orders covering the sizes and quantities needed for each purchase.
Key requirements include:
- ASTM F436 Type 1 flat washer specification
- Carbon steel material
- Heat-treated hardness of 38–45 HRC
- Plain finish
- Controlled inside diameter, outside diameter, thickness, and concentricity
- The inside diameter flatness is required to be less than 0.005″, according to the customer’s technical requirement.
- Burr-free edges and no surface markings
Established Tooling for Flexible Repeat Orders
All required washer sizes were developed and approved at the beginning of the cooperation. Once the drawings, dimensions, hardness range, and finish requirements were confirmed, the customer could place repeat orders for selected sizes without repeating the full development process.
This long-term production model supports stable quality, flexible order quantities, and efficient handling of ongoing industrial fastening requirements.
Project Result
The stamped ASTM F436 washers were produced according to the customer’s confirmed dimensional, hardness, flatness, and batch requirements.
This project reflects more than ten years of repeat production for the same Houston customer, requiring stable tooling, consistent heat treatment, controlled dimensions, and reliable quality across multiple washer specifications.
