Custom Forged Automotive Parts

This project involved the production of custom forged steel components for an automotive customer in Australia. The parts were manufactured from 4140 alloy steel according to the customer’s drawings and forging requirements.

The components were supplied as forged blanks with the required machining allowance. Final CNC machining was completed by the customer after delivery.

This was a regular repeat-order project, so consistent forging dimensions, stable material quality, controlled machining allowance, and batch-to-batch repeatability were especially important.

For custom forged blanks, machined steel components, shafts, pins, brackets, and other parts requiring material control, machining allowance, heat treatment, CNC finishing, and dimensional inspection, explore our custom precision metal parts manufacturing capabilities.

Process

The parts were forged according to the customer’s approved drawings and technical requirements.

We supplied the components as forged blanks with confirmed machining allowance. The customer completed the final machining at their own facility after receiving the parts.

Quantity

This was a regular repeat order with a confirmed quantity of 400 pieces.

Additional pieces were arranged during production to allow for normal process loss and final quality selection. After inspection, 408 qualified forged components were completed and supplied for this batch.

Material

The forged components were manufactured from 4140 alloy steel according to the customer’s confirmed material specification.

The material grade and related quality documentation were checked according to the approved order requirements before shipment.

Forging and Final Machining Coordination

Because the customer completed the final machining after delivery, the forged blanks had to retain suitable machining allowance while maintaining stable overall dimensions and material consistency.

The drawing review focused on forged shape, machining stock, draft requirements, transition areas, and the dimensions needed for the customer’s subsequent machining process.

Custom Forged Parts for Automotive Applications

Automotive forging projects often require coordination between raw material selection, die development, forging, trimming, heat treatment, machining allowance, inspection, and final customer-side processing.

For OEM projects involving forged parts together with machined components, fasteners, stamped parts, castings, coatings, heat treatment, or assemblies, explore our broader custom industrial parts manufacturing capabilities.

Quality Control

The forged blanks were checked according to the approved drawings and order requirements before shipment.

Inspection can include overall dimensions, forged shape, surface condition, machining allowance, material verification, and other specified items required for the customer’s final machining process.

Project Result

The completed 4140 alloy steel forgings met the confirmed drawing, material, forging, and machining allowance requirements.

Although the order quantity was 400 pieces, 408 qualified components were completed and supplied after final inspection. This repeat-order project demonstrates stable batch production of forged automotive blanks for customer-side machining.
