4140 alloy steel forged output flanges for H300 automotive transfer case application

This project involved the manufacture of custom 4140 alloy steel output flanges for an H300 transfer case application in Australia. The components were produced according to the customer’s approved drawing, using forging followed by inner bore machining.

An output flange is a high-strength drivetrain component that connects the transfer case to the relevant driveline assembly. For this type of automotive part, stable forged geometry, reliable steel performance and controlled bore machining are important for subsequent assembly and service use.

4140 Alloy Steel Forging for H300 Transfer Case Components

The output flanges were manufactured from 4140 alloy steel. Forging was selected for this component because it is suitable for high-strength automotive and mechanical parts that require good durability and resistance to repeated load.

The forged design includes a large flange end, a stepped body and a central bore. We manufacture drawing-based custom forging parts for automotive, industrial and OEM replacement applications, including flanges, shafts, connectors and other high-load steel components.

Inner Bore Machining

After the forging process, the inner bore was machined according to the confirmed drawing requirement. This operation prepares the forged output flange for accurate assembly and any further precision machining specified by the customer.

Our custom precision metal parts manufacturing capability supports forging together with machining, inspection and other secondary operations when required by the part design.

Project Details

  • Part: Output Flange, Transfer Case – H300
  • Model: END15-05-00-01
  • Material: 4140 alloy steel
  • Process: Forging + inner bore machining
  • Order quantity: 200 pieces
  • Market: Australia – automotive transfer case drivetrain components

Why Forging Was Used

Forging is often selected for automotive drivetrain parts when strength and fatigue resistance are more important than highly complex geometry. Compared with casting, forging shapes heated metal under pressure and can provide stronger mechanical performance for suitable component designs.

Inspection and Export Packing

The completed order was inspected before export packing. All 200 output flanges were packed in one plywood case for shipment to Australia. The final packing size was 940 × 940 × 610 mm, with a net weight of 1,080 kg and a gross weight of 1,130 kg.
