Custom Steel Guide Plates with Anti-Rust Oil Treatment for Panama

This project involved the repeat production of custom steel guide plates for an industrial valve maintenance project in Panama. The parts were manufactured from ASTM A36 / Q235B steel plate according to the customer drawing, with cutting, drilling, slot machining, dimensional inspection, and anti-rust oil treatment before shipment.

Project Background

The customer required custom steel guide plates with round holes, slotted holes, and machined edges for a valve-related maintenance application. This was the second production of the same steel plate component.

In the previous batch, the anti-rust oil was selected based on a “similar” requirement, but the coating film was thicker than expected. For this repeat batch, we reviewed the coating requirement again and corrected the anti-rust oil treatment to better match the customer’s intended application.

The new production also included the earlier quantity that needed to be supplemented, bringing the total production quantity to 40 pieces.

Material and Surface Protection

The guide plates were produced from ASTM A36 / Q235B steel plate. This material is commonly used for industrial structural and machined steel components because of its good availability, weldability, machinability, and stable mechanical properties.

Since the parts are steel components, surface protection was required before delivery. Based on the updated requirement, the finished plates were treated with anti-rust oil to reduce corrosion risk during storage and transportation.

Manufacturing Process

The parts were manufactured according to the customer drawing. The process included steel plate cutting, profile machining, drilling of round holes, slot machining, edge finishing, surface cleaning, anti-rust oil treatment, and final inspection.

The component includes several functional features, such as the main plate outline, round holes, slotted holes, and central opening. These features required careful machining and inspection to ensure the parts would fit properly during assembly.

Dimensional Inspection

Before shipment, dimensional inspection was carried out according to the drawing. The inspection covered 11 key positions, including overall length, internal spacing, plate height, hole locations, slot dimensions, hole diameter, and plate thickness.

Three samples were inspected, and all checked dimensions were within the required tolerance. The final dimensional inspection result was accepted.

Packaging and Delivery

The finished steel guide plates were cleaned, treated with anti-rust oil, wrapped for surface protection, and packed in a wooden case for export shipment. This helped reduce surface damage and corrosion risk during handling and transportation.

Project Result

The repeat batch of steel guide plates was completed with corrected anti-rust oil treatment and full dimensional inspection. By reviewing the surface protection requirement and adjusting the treatment before delivery, we helped the customer receive parts that better matched the actual application requirement.
